  • Cluster computing

The use of multiple computers, typically PCs or UNIX workstations, multiple storage devices, and redundant interconnections, to form what appears to users as a single highly available system.

  • Cluster Server

A server cluster is a group of independent servers running on a similar OS, and working together as a single system to provide a higher level of availability, reliability, and scalability than can be obtained by using a single computer. When a failure occurs on one computer in a cluster, resources are redirected and the workload is redistributed to another computer in the cluster. You can use server clusters to ensure that users have constant access to important server-based resources. Server clusters are designed for applications that have long-running in-memory state or frequently updated data. Typical uses for server clusters include file servers, print servers, database servers, and messaging servers.

  • Cluster Shared Volumes CSV)

A feature in Windows Server in which shared disks are concurrently accessible to all nodes within a failover cluster. It was first introduced in Windows Server 2008 R2 as a way to simplify storage with clustered Hyper-V virtual machines (VMs).

  • Clustered Network-Attached Storage (Clustered NAS)

A clustered NAS system is a distributed file system that runs concurrently on multiple NAS nodes. Clustering provides access to all files from any of the clustered nodes regardless of the physical location of the file.

  • Clustering

The use of multiple computers, typically PCs or UNIX workstations, multiple storage devices, and redundant interconnections, to form a single highly available system. Cluster computing can be used for load balancing as well as for high availability.

  • Coarse Wavelength Division Multiplexing (CWDM)

A method of combining multiple signals on laser beams at various wavelengths for transmission along fiber optic cables.

  • COBIT (Control Objectives for Information and Related Technology)

An international open standard that defines requirements for the control and security of sensitive data and provides a reference framework.

  • COBOL

Common Business Oriented Language (COBOL) is the first widely-used high-level programming language for business applications. It was an effort to make a programming language that was like natural English, easy to write.

  • COBOL/400

Common Business Oriented Language (COBOL) is the first widely-used high-level programming language for business applications. It was an effort to make a programming language that was like natural English, easy to write.

  • Cocoa Touch

Cocoa Touch is a user interface framework provided by Apple for building software applications for products like iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. It is primarily written in Objective C language and is based on Mac OS X. Cocoa Touch was developed based on model view controller software architecture. The high-level application programming interfaces available in Cocoa Touch help to make animation, networking, and adding the appearance and behavior of the native platform to the developed applications possible with less code development.

  • Code generation

Code generation is the process by which a compiler's code generator converts some intermediate representation of source code into a form (e.g., machine code) that can be readily executed by a machine.

  • Code Project Open License (CPOL)

A license intended to provide developers who choose to share their code with a license that protects them and provides users of their code with a clear statement regarding how the code can be used.

  • Coded Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (COFDM)

COFDM is a modulation scheme that divides a single digital signal across 1,000 or more signal carriers simultaneously. The signals are sent at right angles to each other so they do not interfere with each other.

  • CodedUI

Microsoft Visual Studio CodedUI is a test engine with which you can build UI tests for the most common UI technologies including HTML and JavaScript based web applications, Windows Forms, WPF and XAML Based Store apps. The automated tests that drive your application through its user interface (UI) are known as coded UI tests (CUITs). These tests include functional testing of the UI controls. They let you verify that the whole application, including its user interface, is functioning correctly. Coded UI Tests are particularly useful where there is validation or other logic in the user interface, for example in a web page. They are also frequently used to automate an existing manual test.

  • CodeIgniter

CodeIgniter is an open source rapid development web application framework, for use in building dynamic web sites with PHP. It is loosely based on the popular Model-View-Controller development pattern. While view and controller classes are a necessary part of development under CodeIgniter, models are optional.

  • CodeRush

CodeRush is a refactoring and productivity plugin developed by DevExpress that extends native functionality of Microsoft Visual Studio|Visual Studio .NET 2003, 2005, 2008 and 2010. CodeRush includes useful tools for getting up to speed quickly and increasing your programming efficiency like code analysis (error detection), error correction, code completion, navigation, search, syntax highlighting, formatting, code generation and optimization, carries out over 180 automated refactorings, and streamlines unit testing using NUnit, XUnit, MbUnit and MSTest, among other features.
