  • Package Management System (PMS)

    A.k.a package manager, is a program used to install, uninstall and manage software packages.Software packages and package managers are often mentioned in connection to Unix and Unix-derived environments, such as Linux. 

  • Packet

    The unit of data that is routed between an origin and a destination on the Internet or any other packet-switched network. 

  • Packet Analyzer

    A packet analyzer (also known as a network analyzer, protocol analyzer or packet sniffer—or, for particular types of networks, an Ethernet sniffer or wireless sniffer) is a computer program or piece of computer hardware that can intercept and log traffic that passes over a digital network or part of a network. As data streams flow across the network, the sniffer captures each packet and, if needed, decodes the packet's raw data, showing the values of various fields in the packet, and analyzes its content according to the appropriate RFC or other specifications.

  • Packet Loss Concealment (PLC)

    A technology designed to minimize the practical effect of lost packets in digital communications. In particular, PLC is used in Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP). 

  • Packet-Level Procedure (PAP)

    A full-duplex protocol for transferring packets between parties in an X.25 network. PAP supports data sequencing, flow control, accountability, and error detection and recovery.

  • Packet-switched network

    The type of network in which relatively small units of data called packets are routed through a network based on the destination address contained within each packet. 

  • Page Description Language (PDL)

    PDL specifies the arrangement of a printed page through commands from a computer that the printer carries out. Hewlett Packard's Printer Control Language (PCL) and Adobe's PostScript are the two most commonly used PDLs.

    Page2Images is tool to generate website screenshot or thumbnail online. Users can submit the website url and can get the thumbnail of the website. The service also provides an API to generate webpage screenshots in realtime through a program.

  • Pagefile

    A pagefile is a reserved portion of a hard disk that is used as an extension of random access memory (RAM) for data in RAM that hasn't been used recently. 

  • Pager

    A small electronic device that receives messages. It signals the user by making a beeping sound or by vibrating.

  • PageRank

    A link analysis algorithm, named after Larry Page; used by the Google web search engine, that assigns a numerical weighting to each element of a hyperlinked set of documents, with the purpose of "measuring" its relative importance within the set.

  • Palm OS

    The computer operating system that provides a software platform for the Palm series of handheld personal digital assistants (PDAs) made by Palm Inc.

  • Panel PC

    Panel PC are variants of industrial PCs for use in standard control cabinets , consoles and switchboards . Alternatively, they can be (on an assembly line, for example, as a visualization PC) as a complete system on a stand.

  • Papertab

    Developed by Plastic Logic, PaperTab has a flexible touchscreen that lets users send files and emails and navigate through pages of documents using hand gestures. One can also combine several PaperTabs into one larger surface by placing them side by side, or share files by touching one tablet to another. PaperTab is powered by an Intel i5 processor, which seems to be separate from the actual display and connected to the PaperTab with a thin data cable
