  • Backup Domain Controller (BDC)

    In Windows NT 4 server domains, BDC is a computer that has a copy of the user accounts database. The BDC database is a read-only copy.

  • Backup robot

    An automated USB 2.0 external storage device that supports multiple removable SATA hard drives. Data Robotics' "Drobo" is the first example of a digital backup robot.

    Storage that is intended as a copy of the storage that is actively in use so that, if the storage medium such as a hard disk fails and data is lost on that medium, it can be recovered from the copy.

  • BAL (Basic Assembler Language)

    A version of IBM's assembler language for its System/360 and System/370 mainframe OS. An assembler language consists of computer instructions to the processor, each specifying a processor operation and input or output registers or data areas.

    A performance management tool supported by design methods and automation tools, that can be used by managers to keep track of the execution of activities by the staff within their control and to monitor the consequences arising from these actions.

    BaNCS is a proprietary core banking software suite developed by Tata Consulting Services. The platform encompasses an array of pre-configured, customizable banking products such as Universal Banking, Core Banking, Payments, Compliance, Financial Inclusion, Islamic Banking and Treasury.   • Bandwidth (Computer Networks)

    A synonym for data transfer rate - the amount of data that can be carried from one point to another in a given time period (usually a second). This kind of bandwidth is usually expressed in bits (of data) per second (bps).
