      An online storage service offering 5 GB of free storage that allows users to upload and access music, videos, documents and photos from Web-connected devices. The service also enables a user to stream music to a device. 

  • Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2)

      A web-based service that allows business subscribers to run application programs in the Amazon.com computing environment. The EC2 can serve as a practically unlimited set of virtual machines.

  • Amazon Kindle Fire HDX

    The Kindle Fire HDX is the third generation of Amazon's Kindle Fire line of tablet computers available in two models, 7 inch and 8.9 inch. Both the 7 inch and 8.9 inch models contain a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor that has an Adreno 330 graphics processing unit. The models also have a 1.2 megapixel front camera that shoots 720p HD video. Both models use Fire OS 3 which is a proprietary fork of Android 4.2.2. It features "Mayday", a button for free tech support available any time, "Silk", a cloud-accelerated browser, the Amazon Appstore for games and apps and Amazon.com services for media content purchases.

  • Amazon Kindle Touch

    An e-reader that has a multi-touch display that users can manipulate to input commands. It weighs 7.8 ounces and comes with 4 GB of internal storage, which can hold 3,000 e-books, according to Amazon.  

  • Amazon Mechanical Turk

    A web service application program interface (API) that allows developers to integrate human intelligence into Remote Procedure Calls (RPC). Amazon Mechanical Turk uses a network of humans to perform tasks that computers are ill-suited for. 

  • Amazon Relational Database Service (RDS)

      A web service that makes it easy to set up, operate, and scale a relational database in the cloud. It gives access to the capabilities of a familiar MySQL, Oracle or Microsoft SQL Server database engine.

  • Amazon Silk

      A browser that Amazon developed for the Kindle Fire tablet. Some of its system components reside locally on the device and others reside remotely on Amazon's servers to create a fast user experience. Silk supports HTML5, JavaScript, CSS and Flash.

  • Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3)

    A scalable, high-speed, low-cost Web-based service designed for online backup and archiving of data and application programs. The S3 allows uploading, storage and downloading of practically any file or object up to 5 GB in size. 

  • Amazon Web Services (AWS) Import/Export

    A limited beta program for moving large amounts of data to Amazon's cloud services using portable storage devices. The device can be mailed or shipped to Amazon, and Amazon will transfer the data to designated S3 bucket, and return device to sender.

    The second largest maker of personal computer microprocessors after Intel. They also make flash memory, integrated circuits for networking devices, and programmable logic devices.

    A set of hardware extensions for the X86 processor architecture. AMD designed the extensions to perform repetitive tasks normally performed by software and improve resource use and virtual machine (VM) performance.

  • Amiga

  • AMR (Audio/Modem Riser)

    A specification developed by Intel for packaging the analog I/O audio functions of modem circuitry together with a codec chip (which converts back and forth from analog to digital) on a small board that plugs directly into a computer's motherboard.
