  • Android

The word Android (then Androides) originated from the "Alchemical literature" published in 1727. It was used for want of a word to represent little humans by Albertus Magnus and Paracelsus. In 1900's the word made an impact through Science fictions like The Cometeers (1936) and Captain Future (1940-1944). In 2003, Andy Rubin, Rich Miner, Nick Sears and Chris White started a firm Android Inc. to develop an advanced operating system for digital cameras. As they realized that the market for the devices was not large enough, and diverted their efforts to producing a smartphone operating system to rival those of Symbian and Windows Mobile. Later in 2005 Google has bought over Android Inc. and the rest is the evolution of what we know Android as an open source Linux-based operating system designed primarily for touchscreen mobile devices such as smartphones and tablet computers.
